We did it! Jessica Pigza and I hosted a very successful, first-ever Crafternoon at the New York Public Library, and I couldn’t be happier about it. The library provided us with a gorgeous room in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building and our guest authors Jessica Vitkus and Hannah Rogge guided the 40-some attendees with fantastic demos. Jessica V. showed off some beautiful paper-piercing techniques and Hannah gave instructions on how to fashion some really cool earrings using hardware store materials.
We had a robust turnout of folks from all over New York City and beyond. People heard about the event in a variety of ways, from reading about it on the library’s website to receiving an email about it from The Bead Society! Thanks to everyone who helped spread the good word, and thanks to everyone who came out to get crafty. It was a vibrant group of warm and engaging people, and it bodes very well for the future events. We even raised some money for the library with our raffle!
Our next Crafternoon is on October 10th from 2-4pm and will be featuring Sabrina Gschwandtner, author of KnitKnit and Teva Durham, the author of Loop-d-Loop and Loop-d-Loop Crochet, and one of the knitters featured in KnitKnit. The last event was so inspiring and exhilirating, and I know that this one will be incredible, too. I hope to see you there!
